In the wheelset bearing, temperature monitoring is essential for the operation of the gearbox and therefore for the safety of the train. The enormous loads on the bearings and the gear tooth flanks generate heat, which is regulated by lubricating with oil.

The bearing temperature is measured by a temperature probe that has been specifically developed and certified for this demanding measurement task. The JUMO wheelset RTD temperature probe, which has been registered for a patent, can withstand the high stresses in the wheelset transmission and provide reliable measurements. This is why it has the applicable approvals for railway technology.
